THE SOLFEGGIO STORY, HISTORY AND MYTH

The story of “Solfeggio” has it’s roots with Gregorian Chant, which dates back to the 8th or 9th Century. In the 11th Century Guido of Arezzo devised the hexachord system which is known as “Ut, , Mi, Fa, Sol, La”. These letters are the first syllables of each of the lines of the Latin Hymn “Ut Queant Laxis”, which translates as the "Hymn to St. John the Baptist”.

"Ut" was changed in the 1600s in Italy to the open syllable “Do”.  Guido's system had only six notes, but "ti" was added later as the seventh note of their diatonic scale.

These were syllables, not frequencies. Guido never mentioned exact numbers in Hertz because that system was not yet in existence. This was discovered in 1887 by Heinrich Hertz, a German physicist who proved the existence of electromagnetic waves, and showed that individual waves have a specific frequency and wavelength.

The original system was for teaching Pitch Relationships, not for healing.

The so-called Solfeggio Scale is based purely on Numerology – not on Musicology.

The idea of “Solfeggio frequencies” was invented by Dr. Joseph Puleo in the early 1970’s, and later popularised by Leonard Horowitz. Dr Puleo took numbers from the Book of Numbers in the Bible, applied Pythagorean math, and claimed that these yielded six sacred frequencies, which became:

396, 417, 528, 639, 741 & 852Hz.

Three more Frequencies were added later: 174, 285 and 963Hz, also based on Numerology.

If you look at the following groups of numbers, you will wonder why only some of them were chosen whilst the rest were left out!  The 3 groups of 6 numbers relate only to Tritypes, Enneagrams, Prime Numbers, the Vedic Square, Platonic Solids and Sacred Geometry.

(147, 174, 417, 471, 714, 741)     (258, 285, 528, 582, 825, 852)     (369, 396, 639, 693, 936, 963)

The original 6 numbers are highlighted in Red and the extra 3 are highlighted in Blue.

Every Musical Scale has an Octave, a doubling of frequency to create the same sounding note, and a Fifth, a multiplying of one frequency by 1.5 to make another note in complete harmony. These do not exist within Solfeggio which thus defines it as not being a musical scale at all.

There are also no scientific studies confirming that any of the so-called Solfeggio frequencies relate to music, or that they have any unique healing properties whatsoever. The idea that these specific frequencies are sacred or inherently healing or therapeutic emerges from modern spiritual interpretation rather than any medieval ecclesiastical practice.

Sound does affect us, but in general ways: Music can lower stress, modulate heart rate, and improve mood. Certain therapies such as Neurological Music Therapy affect the nervous system and have widespread clinical support in many countries and different cultures.

The claim that 174 Hz relieves physical pain, 285Hz repairs damaged tissue, and 528 Hz repairs DNA are very dangerous and misleading statements. 528Hz is also called the frequency of Love!

The Inuit are an Indigenous people of the Arctic and sub-arctic regions, including Greenland, Canada, and Alaska, who have 22 words for Snow. This is because they live with it all the time, and can see the many subtle differences in the quality of snow.

Likewise there are very many different words in the Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit and Tamil languages for the various concepts of Love. Those who use Astrology will be able to see these differences by the location of Venus in the Zodiacal Signs and Houses. The love for a Mother, Father, Sibling, Partner, Child, Friend, Money, Music or Art will all have unique and very different qualities.

We in the world of Sound Therapy using Voice Analysis have literally thousands of frequencies that can be used for healing, whether that be for the emotional, psychological or physical aspects of the body. These are individually tailored to the specific needs of the client, based on their own constitution, personality and type of dis-ease that has manifested.

There will never be just one frequency that will fix a given problem for everybody!

We tend to ask not what dis-ease a person has, rather what type of person has the dis-ease. If there is no genetic abnormality then at least 95% will be based on an emotional trauma. This is often a specific individual who has triggered the problem, simply by being of the wrong energetic type for the client, clashing at a quantum level that cannot yet be measured scientifically but can be clearly seen when comparing the Astrological Charts.

To conclude, please do your own studies on this subject so that you will see for yourself the errors that have been made, and so avoid the now very widespread money making scams that are widely seen on so many internet sites in many different countries.

I am a Computer Programmer, an Electronics Engineer, a Mathematician and Pianist.

I have studied Astrology for over 40 years and used it along with Computerised Voice Analysis in the field of Sound Therapy for nearly 30 years. I have studied the concept of Solfeggio and it’s potential efficacy and validity very carefully before writing this article.

There are so many books that I could give in reference to the aforementioned topics but one particular book stands out as being worthy of serious study. This is entitled:
